Application Requirements
Applications can be submitted online at:
http://www.byu.edu/gradstudies/ or as paper applications. Online applications are strongly encouraged because they require a shorter and more efficient processing time. Paper applications can either be downloaded and printed from the Web site or requested from the Office of Graduate Studies: B-356 ASB Provo, UT 84602, Ph: 801-422-4091.
Admission to the Public Policy Graduate Program is highly selective and is granted for Fall semester only. As a minimum, applicants who wish to be considered for admission must accomplish the following:
- Submit a complete application before the application deadline of March 1st. An application is not considered complete until the application for admission, all official transcripts, letters of recommendation (3), the statement of intent, and the confidential report have been received and the application fee has been paid.
- Students should complete the following courses before enrolling in the graduate program (BYU equivalent listed in parentheses): principles of economics (Econ 110); introductory statistics (Stat 221 or 510); introductory calculus (Math 112 or 119). Applicants who are missing these courses can still apply for admission, but they will not be formally admitted until the prerequisites have been completed.
- Applicants should take the GRE before applying for admission to the program
- Agree to maintain university standards of personal conduct.
- Receive a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university before the expected semester of entry.
- Have earned at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in the last 60 semester hours of course work.
