As noted in the Graduate Handbook, all MPP students must complete a policy emphasis. Currently, the approved emphases are:
ED: Education
FS: Family and Social
HA: Health and Aging
NRE: Natural Resources and the Environment
PE: Public Economics
PRM: Policy Research Methods
IDEV: Development
(Note: Students in Social and Family policy should try to concentrate either in family policy or social policy, though some cross-over is allowed).
Each student must have all their courses approved by the MPP program office. In the graduate handbook are a listing of courses that will be automatically approved for each area of emphasis. The list that follows are electives that are currently being offered during the 2005-2006 academic year. Graduate-level electives (500-699) will be automatically approved for the indicated emphases. Undergraduate electives (300-499) will be approved on a case-by-case basis depending on what electives are available and your overall program of study. The specified electives may require prerequisites that you may not have had. Please inquire with the course instructor concerning prerequisites. Students Interested in taking courses in the law school should contact the Graduate Director before trying to register.
